Alito Tulum Hotel

I stayed for just one day in a bungalow and loved the experience of being surrounded by a beautiful coconut grove by the sea. The hotel is located within the national park and close to the Tulum archaeological zone, which can be visited on foot, although the park also offers internal transportation via small electric buses.

We felt very welcome at Alito for ten nights. It is safe as it is located in a gated park. The room (in building) was spatious, with big closet, beds had mosquito nets and a comfortable bathroom. The landscaping of the hotel is really beautiful to wander around, the true Tulum vibe we were looking for! The reception was easy-to-talk to and ready to assist with a big smile. We also were in contact with the reception through whatsapp, which was very helpful. Safe and big parking. Great wifi all-over the property. The kids loved the swimming pool, kicker table and beach toys. Breakfast is a fixed menu but has lots of options, be sure to try the rancheros eggs!

The Alito Hotel Tulum is a delightfully earthy hotel inside the Parque del Jaguar. I found it wonderful and will return. However, it might not appeal to all, which is probably the reason for the mixed reviews. Why Was Alito Nearly Perfect? Peace and Quiet. Charming Huts on White Sand (clean space, excellent bedding, A/C, toilet, sink, and shower). One with Nature Vibe (sand under your feet, palm trees, ocean breezes, beautiful beach). Caring and Friendly staff (special people - Carlos Renato and David- front desk, Oscar, Luis, Jesus, and Abraham - restaurant, and Josefina - housekeeping.) Safety and Security (the park is overseen by the military, friendly officers, no one hassles you, no one trying to sell you anything on the beach). Big Plus - you can walk to the Tulum Lighthouse and Tulum Ruins (you are in the national park.) And, if you tire of walking, the transit system within the park is excellent. Recommendations: Deal with the Park Fees. The park is clean and secure, and peaceful. Rent a car (easy to arrange before your trip, or at the Tulum Airport) in order to avoid having to taxi in and out. A car will also be useful for trips to cenotes, other ruins (Coba, Chichén Itzá), restaurants and shops in town or at other hotels, and the Súper Akí for groceries and snacks. Deal with the Service Charge (griped about in other reviews) at the restaurant. It won't kill you, and it's actually less than you will find at many other hotels and resorts. And finally, bring a thermos or hydro flask for water as plastic bottles are not Allowed inside the park.

The staff, the location, the beach, the beach restaurant, and that special light, were all outstanding. We had a lovely brief stay that allowed us early, direct access to the Tulum ruins (as you are already in the Jaguar park), and a lovely time at the beach with the unique colours. The restaurant is at Tulum-level prices (i.e. expensive) but everything we eat was excellent and the staff were very efficient, fast, kind and friendly. The breakfast was very good too, and kids friendly, and mostly included. We saw no evidence of what other travellers complained of.

The location is superb, the interior courtyard is dreamy. Breakfast is served quickly and is reasonable. At the beach, a sunbed is included and the prices for food and drinks are OK.
